Portrait / Branding: shoot with photographer and educator Kimberly Espinel.
Some 12 years ago I was commissioned to photograph the lifestyle element of a cookbook for someone working in the nutrition space who I really admired. It was my first ever book and I was super nervous and felt completely out of my depth. In the lobby of the publishing house waiting to go into the planning meeting I met Kimberly, who was to be the stylist on the project. Over the years we’ve stayed in touch, watching each others career unfold through the lens of social media. Kimberly has made a name for herself as a leading photographer and educator in the food space with The Little Plantation and her podcast Eat, Capture, Share. It’s been incredible to see.
So, it was with the greatest honour that is was that I was turning up to Kimberly’s home in London at the beginning of this month so capture her in her home. Kimberly wanted some soft, authentic portraits of her in her space after a fitness journey and some notable reframes around her home. You can see more on that here.
I’ve said before that it is something quite magical to be a part of someone’s story and I think this shoot does a great job of summing that up in a nutshell. Bringing an editorial slant to branding shoots delivers a more cohesive, storytelling set of images and I’m really proud of these ones!
