Unique Stay: Hergest Lee, Mid Wales/Shropshire.
I love it when you get to tick off an item on your bucket list. Hergest Lee has been on my list for a while - the interiors are so up my street and I’ve wanted to explore the area which it’s in for a while. It so happened that I was going to be in the area for a camping trip which coincided with Hergest Lee having some availability for a shoot stay.
Designed and built by the owners, Rachael Fisher and Paul Gent, Hergest Lee has a strong mid century feel and is all thoughtfully crafted with sustainable materials. I chose to stay in the lean to as it spoke to me somehow and was glad of my choice - the dark wood interior is comforting and enveloping and was perfect for a few nights stay to reset and discover everything the area has to offer.
On booking, Rachael provides an extensive list of suggestions of things to do in the area which I made good use. From wild swimming to antique hunting I could have spent a week there and still only having scratched the surface. As it was I checked out the antique shops in Leominster, picked around Hay-on-Way for a day and dunked myself in some icy cold but crystal clear waters. Bliss.
