Menorca: an island of magic light and pastel colours.

A few weeks back I was in Menorca for a commission that I can tell you more about early next year. Often, when commissions look this come in, I choose to have a day before the commissioned shoot time to bed in and shoot some personal work to get my creative juices flowing. It was the hour before dusk when I unpacked my bags at the hotel in Ferreries, a shoe makers town central to the island. It was just enough time for me to take a walk around the town and tap into the magical light of the island that took my breath away.

Menorca is a UNESCO world heritage site so it is protected from high rise buildings and certain building practises. This means any set of steps you walk up you get a view over rooftops and to the mountains. In the following days we would go from tourist resorts to wild calas (coves) but I also managed a whistle stop tour (as ever) of the two cities of Menorca: Ciutadella and Mahón. It was an incredibly tricky task getting these images down to a cohesive selection with many that I grappled with culling. For that reason I am grateful for TIDE where I can expand the collections a bit further.
