Business: 5 unexpected benefits of getting brand photography.

I’ve been shooting brand photography for over 10 years and over the years I’ve seen clients find benefits of their brand photography they were surprised by. The ROI of brand photography is always worth it - brand photography is the best way to communicate who you are, what you do and why but there are other hidden benefits that people have fed back again and again.

1. Clarity on what you are trying to achieve.

Most of the work on a brand shoot happens before the shoot itself. It’s not just setting a language, it’s really finding out who you are trying to serve, what problems they have and how you can solve them. It’s also about reflecting on your unique set of skills and experience that has bought you to where you are today and is pulling in those clients you adore working with. It’s also about thinking about how your business has changed, what successes you’ve had and what you are bringing to the table in your unique, very human way. While it sounds exhausting the process isn’t as laborious as it sounds - it’s just a case of answering some carefully crafted questions in my bespoke brand questionairre and getting on a call with me while I ask questions, make notes and then go away and do the visual work for you.

2. An instant building of trust.

Having a set of impactful photos that are both professional but approachable instantly communicates you are a ‘proper’ business that charges what they need to to hold a level of service. Photos are the first thing people look at when landing on your website or social media page before they decide whether they are interested enough to read the copy or text. It makes sense to lead with an impactful photo that will have the viewer saying ‘that’s who I need to work with’.

3. Sudden easy content.

Having a set of photos to pull from makes content so much easier. I always say to my clients if you’re ever stuck knowing what to post sit and look through your gallery and ask yourself ‘what does this photo say about my business’ and you have instant content. But content doesn't just stop at social media - it also works across directories, listing sites, storefronts, applications, interviews, magazine features, blog posts, posters, podcast guest episodes. People looking to work with people will know you have the content to make collaboration easy when you have good photos.

4. PR becomes so much easier.

Again, when editors, journalists, local reporters, online businesses, podcast hosts, specialist blogs and more are researching people to feature or have as a guest they want to know all the content is there to keep a quality looking product. People are short on time and if they think they might have to commission a shoot to feature you, that’s a big barrier. Clients of mine have found within weeks of posting their photos they have secured interviews or high quality features.

5. Confidence in your business..

When you DIY with your photos there can be feeling of never feeling quite good enough, you know your business deserves proper photos but working with someone who helps you see how amazing you are breathes confidence in to your business in a way working it out by yourself could never do however nice a photo you can take. Professional photos that have been made through a process where clarity around your business is found is an empowering experience! Time and time again this is the thing clients come back with: ‘seeing my business through your eyes made me realise I am actually doing this, my business is worthy!’.
